soft hands.

: I lost Ed Truck A-Rod... and it feels like somebody took my heart and dropped it into a bucket of boiling tears... and at the same time, somebody else is hitting my soul in the crotch with a frozen sledgehammer... and then a third guy walks in and starts punching me in the grief bone... and I'm crying, and nobody can hear me, because I'm terribly, terribly... terribly alone.

  • I'd feel like my own capa was ditated, but it's all so WEIRD. Boras is so douchey and trying to land the biggest. deal. evah. that I'm not entirely sure what to believe just yet...

  • I think this has been overblown. Nothing has changed. The opt out isn't effective, to the best of my knowledge, until the 10 day period expires.

Both sides have taken extreme positions. The Yankees say they won't negotiate beyond the deadline. Boras/A-Rod say they are opting out.

As long as they talk (and Boras has said he is willing) a deal can still be reached. If Mo and Po are signed within the next ten days, and A-Rod likes an offer, he has an out for changing his mind about opting out. The Yankees, otoh, don't have an out for negotiating beyond the deadline.

  • Cold Hard Cash

The Yankees, though, have not only closed the door to meeting with Rodriguez -- they've constructed a fireproof wall, a moat and stationed a firebreathing dragon between themselves and A-Rod.

"We really would have appreciated having a chance to go forward with him," Cashman said. "It didn't happen, it hasn't happened, and it cannot happen."
