  Paul O'Neill, who was on with Kay, said that he and Girardi had talked about him becoming a coach if Girardi ever became the manager. He sounded interested. Be still my heart.

  i think this has been in the works for a long time and that that is why girardi did not take the previously offered job AND was super dodgy and weird about it. :D
