stve politi:
The whole world is not New York,” Rodriguez answered. “There are some people out there who like me, although some of you guys (in the media) don’t help, there are some people out there who like me.”

Whew. In one mouthful, he seemed to be indicating that the fans outside New York liked him better than the fans of his own team, and that the media were responsible for the way he was treated.

lisa olson:
"Well, the whole world is not New York," he said with a smile that suggested he was in on the joke. "There's some people out there who like me."

so, steve, i'd say that as long as there are quotes to misconstrue and fickle morons to lick your bitchy bile up, yeah, you're just a little bit responsible for the way he's treated.

  • SO awesome that you put this side-by-side. Klapisch just lost all respect I had left for him. Was the Klapisch thing in the News too or somewhere else? Because that's just fantastic if they were in the same papter.

  • klapisch writes for the bergen record, i believe, and olson for the daily news. the same quote might very well have been in another daily news piece in a third, altogether different light, for all i know.

but no, reporters, you're not responsible for shaping public opinion. NOPE.

  • I fully agree that reporters --- biased sons & daughters, most of 'em --- play a part in shaping public opinion.

That said, the quote attributed to the Bergen Record's Bob Klapisch, was, I believe, the work of the Newark Star-Ledger's Steve Politi.
