soft hands.

oh for the love of god

from bob raissman:

Well-planted pinstripers say if YES execs decline to pick up their option on reporter Kimberly Jones' contract there is a very Yankeecentric replacement, Christa Robinson, waiting in the wings.

You may have already followed Robinson's exploits on YES' "Ultimate Road Trip" reality series. Before becoming a member of the "URT" cast, Robinson, 24, worked at YES.

Robinson grew up in Seattle. At the age of 9, according to her bio, she visited New York and knew right then the city, and the Yankees, were in her future.

Considering the way things have worked out so far for Robinson, she might want to consider playing the lottery on a regular basis.

if they're handing out jobs i want to know where to sign up.

  • I'm all for equality in the clubhouse reporting thing, but my god sports networks go about it in the wrongest way possible. I'd rather have someone who knows their shit and how to do the whole reporting thing rather than just a token woman in there. It seems they always find the most obnoxious women (see our friend Jeannie Zelasko and Suzyn) or the biggest pretty dingbats (most sideline reporters for Monday Night Football) to do the job.

Not sure where Christa fits just yet, but I hope she at least can come across as a woman who knows her Yankees and not as a woman doing her impression of a pushy man, which is how many come across. Ugh...

  • So your company is putting on TV reality show and you have an open casting call but somehow someone who works for you gets on the show and then you offer her a premium position as a reporter when she has no experience.

It's pretty obvious what's behind all of this.

I'm expecting to see Christa's kneepads on eBay.

kim jones made me really miss ol slooze. suzyn did the best she could, knew her stuff, and if everything else failed at least we could make fun of her clothes.

i'm thinking hiring christa would be a disaster - they players know she's a fan with no journalism cred, the viewers know she's a fan with no journalism cred, and the show painted a nice picture of her as this ditzy fangirl. it can't work. i'd rather see bald vinny, at least that would be funny.
