viva el duque!

float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

Hernandez (W, 5-0) 7IP 4H 1R 1ER 3BB 7K 0HR 2.08ERA

funny:
"David Dellucci walked and Soriano tagged up and moved to third as Michael Young flied to right. When El Duque paid him no attention, Dellucci stole second without drawing a throw. Hernandez stared menacingly at the ex-Yankee after Dellucci reached second, and Dellucci glared back and said something to Hernandez." [newark star ledger]

and then proceeded to walk dellucci twice more, for all three walks issued in the game. like duque wouldn't deign to pitch to him, and left the dirty work to tom gordon.

  • yeah, just let me hop in the volvo.

  • not in regards to the post season. we still have nothing resembling a reliable bullpen. we go out after boone when we dont need another infielder and a good 2/3 of our losses come from the pen...

im dead serious, though. games are starting to sell out again.

  • i would love to but there's that stupid working thing.

and it's probably better for my stomach lining that way. because ny will inevitably flail helplessly at clevelands pen, since more often than not they tattoo guys like zito and mulder but look like farm leaguers against pitchers who get beat up on by everyone else. and then the ny broadcasters will dub the tribes relievers "effectively wild," etc etc.

  • ha, theres nothing wild about our bullpen. we throw strikes. fat, slow strikes.

im thinking of sending gammons a fruitbasket...

"Shawn Dayton Oh: Peter, Now that everyone on ESPN is talking about the Indians, do you think they can contend for the Central or Wild Card, and be the next Marlins Thanks

Peter Gammons: It's not out of the row of possibility, they still have a ways to go b/c they lack experience, but if their pitching comes together down the stretch, they could end up beating the Twins. It's fun watching this and coming to understand what Mark Shapiro was doing two years ago. The advantage they have starting over from scratch is they have a team character that many clubs -- like the Red Sox -- can't buy."
